Itinerary

Day: 01: Soraypampa - Humantay Lake - Salkantaypampa - Ichupata

Our tour will pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 am, and then we will depart to Soraypampa for 3 hours, where we will have breakfast at the foot of the Humantay Mountain.

After breakfast we will begin our ascent to the Humantay Lake from where we can admire the Vilcabamba mountain range, we will have a 30 minutes visit to the Humantay Lake, and then return and start the trek to the route of Salkantay Snowy until we arrive to Pampa Japonesa or Icupata, walk of approximately 8 hours, here we will rest at the foot of the Great Mountain Salkantay.

Day: 02 Ichupata - Sisaypampa - Inca Canal

Early in the morning our cook will depert you with a cup of tea or coffee provided in our tent, so you can recover energy to start our trek, after breakfast we will start the trek to the highest point of the expedition, the Incachiriasca pass, also known as the “Frozen Inca Pass” at an altitude of 5100 m (16732 ft).

From the summit enjoy the breathtaking scenery while enjoying a cup of hot coca tea. From the mountain pass we will begin the descent to the Pampaccahuana valley, continuing the trail to our third campsite, where we will have dinner and rest.

Day: 03 Inca Canal - Wayllabamba - Ayapata

After a delicious breakfast prepared by our cook, we will begin the descent for 3 hours to the archaeological center of Paucarcancha (3143 m / 10410 ft), an archaeological center little visited, on the way we will have our lunch and also we will meet our porters of the Inca Trail, and we will say goodbye to our muleteers.

We will continue our hike for about 30 minutes until we reach Wayllabamba, another archaeological center where the Classic Inca Trail control is located, where we will check in to continue our hike for 2 hours until our fourth campsite in Ayapata.

Day: 04 Ayapata - Warmiwañuska - Chaquicocha

We will wake up very early with a cup of tea before our breakfast, this day will be the most challenging day of the Inca Trail, we will have 2 mountains to conquer; Warmiwañuka pass (4200m) the highest of the trek, and the mountain Runkurakay Pass (4000 meters).
After a hard hike we will set up camp to replenish our energy for the next day.

Day: 05 Chaquiccocha - Phuyupatamarca - Wiñaywayna

After trekking through great mountains like Ausangate, InkaChiriaska, Warmiwañuska and Runqurakay and having done long treks, this day will be a day to rest and take a short hike to enjoy the scenery and visit the archaeological centers such as Phuyupatamarca, Intipata and Wiñaywayna. At the end of the afternoon we will rest in our campsites and save energy for our big day after 5 days of trekking in the Cusco Andes.

Day: 06 Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco

The last and the great day begins very early, where our trekking staff prepares the last breakfast for the great day. After breakfast we will prepare for the final stretch of the Inca Trail, we will have the one-hour hike to the Sun Gate (Intipunku), from where we will have a beautiful view of the sunrise of Machu Picchu and an incredible sunset of Machu Picchu.
We will have a guided tour of Machu Picchu along Route 3, accompanied by our guide who will tell us the most important facts of Machu Picchu. At the end of the visit we will take the bus down to Machu Picchu Village where we can walk, have lunch and wait for the departure time of the train to return to Cusco.
