Ausangate trek 3 days and Rainbow Mountain

We will start with the pick up from your hotel at 4:30 am to start our first day of trekking Ausangate Trek 3 days with Rainbow mountain, we will make the trip to the southern part of Cusco, by the Cusco – Puerto Maldonado Highway, until we reach the village of Upis which is located near Ocongate (3900 m / 12795 ft).

Here we will meet our trekking equipment, cook, horsemen and horses, who will accompany us on Ausagante trek 3 days. After our first breakfast, we will be ready to start our trek enjoying wonderful views of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain, the lagoons and auquénidos such as the llama, vicuña and alpacas, and with luck we will be able to see the majestic Condor.

After 3 hours of walking, we will reach our first pass which is located at 5000 masl / 16404 ft, from here we can enjoy a gorgeous view of a valley surrounded by mountains and snow-capped peaks. Continuing the journey for 1 hour more, we will arrive at the place where lunch prepared by our chef, and take a short break to continue our trek. We will set up our first camp in Pucacocha (red lake) located at the foot of Ausangate, on the beaches of the lagoon.

In the morning at sunrise, we will have our second Andean breakfast, to start our hike through the Ausangate, we will hike for 3 hours to the Alpaca Pass (5100 m / 19732 ft), on the way we can see views of the imposing Ausangate, small snow avalanches, when we are in front of the Ausangate we can enjoy the valley of Chilca where we will see a lot of alpacas. We will continue downhill until we reach our lunch spot, where a comforting lunch awaits us, and take a well-deserved rest.

We will continue with our hike to the Vicuña Pass (5300m / 17388 ft), a 2 hour trek to reach the highest peak of our hike, on this trek it is possible to see some condors flying and vicuñas, at the top our chef will make us wait for a hot drink to enjoy the beautiful views of the mountain, from here we will hike for 1 hour to reach our campsite on the beaches of the Yanacocha Lake, to enjoy our last afternoon of camping.

After our last breakfast of Ausangate Trek 3 days, this will be certainly the big day where we can enjoy the magnificent view of the Colored Mountain and the Red Valley, a view that will impress you.

We will start our hike uphill until we reach the Rainbow Mountain and the Red Valley located at 5200 m / 17060 ft, where our guide will explain in detail about the formation of the mountain and the composition of various minerals that make it attractive for those who visit it, considered one of the most beautiful natural tourist attractions in Peru.

After sightseeing the Rainbow Mountain and taking the best pictures, we will start our last trek to the lunch place, after lunch we will take the bus back to Cusco.
