The Ausangate Trek to Rainbow Mountain 7 days, is one of the most important attractions of the city of Cusco, is a challenging journey for lovers of long walks and enjoy beautiful scenery located above 4500 meters above sea level,

On this trail you will enjoy the most extraordinary landscapes of Peru, surrounded by small villages, glaciers, lakes and imposing snow-capped peaks, traveling through the Andean mountain range of Vilcanota.

Itinerary

Day: 01 CUSCO –TINKI – UPIS.

At 5:30 am, we will pick up you from your hotel, and then travel along a road that leads us to our great destination, we will pass through the towns of Urcos, Ccatca, Ocongate, until we arrive to Tinki. In Tinki after breakfast, we will prepare our camping equipment to start our adventure through the Ausangate circuit. We will begin with the ascent to the village of Upis (4250 masl / 13779 ft), where our chef will make us wait for our lunch, and we can rest and enjoy its hot springs, in the evening we will have our dinner and spend the first night camping.

Day: 02 UPIS – ARAPA PASS – PUCACOCHA

Early after a healthy breakfast, we will pick up our equipment to start our second day of trekking, on the way we will have a beautiful view of Ausangate, as well as beautiful lakes and South American auquénidos grazing in the meadows.

After a 3 hour trek we will reach our first pass, Paso Arapa (4800 m / 15748 ft), from where you will have a beautiful view of the valley, we will continue the gradual descent for about 2 hours until we reach our lunch spot, where our chef will make us wait for a delicious lunch. After a brief rest we will continue the journey for about 3 hours until we reach our second camp located in the Pucaccocha Lake (Red Lake), located at the foot of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain and the shores of the lake.

Day: 03 PUCACCHOCHA – ANANTAPATA – WARMISAYA – YANACOCHA

After our third breakfast prepared by our chef, we will begin one of the most beautiful days of our Ausangate Trek, enjoying the beautiful landscapes that surround our way, we will make a steep 2 hour trek to reach the Pucaccocha Pass (5050 m / 16568 ft), on the way we will have a beautiful view of the lagoons and the snowy Ausangate.

After a long hike, we will be able to enjoy the Rainbow Mountain Range in the distance, and then start the descent to Anantapata (4400 m / 14435 ft), where our chef will make us wait for a delicious lunch surrounded by green hills and snow-capped peaks.

After a short rest, we will continue for about an hour to reach the Warmisaya pass (5050 m / 16568 ft), from where we will enjoy a beautiful view of the valley, after about 30 minutes we will arrive to our third camp located in the Yanacocha Lagoon, from here we will hike to the Rainbow Mountain, to enjoy a beautiful sunset, after this beautiful show we will descend to our camp for tea time and enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day: 04 YANACOCHA – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – QUESIUNO – AUSANGATE LAKE

After our healthy breakfast very early at 5:00 a.m., we will hike to the Rainbow Mountain, to enjoy a beautiful sunrise of the Valley, our guide will explain us about the formations of the Mountain of Colors, the components and minerals that make it so famous to the Rainbow Mountain.

After an hour of contemplating the beauty of the Rainbow Mountain, we will make the descent for 4 hours approximately until we arrive to Qesiuno, to have lunch, after a delicious lunch we will continue our 2 hours walk uphill until we arrive to the Ausangate Lake, here we will have our fourth day of camping and our dinner.

Day: 05 AUSANGATE LAKE – PALOMANI PASS – COMERCOCHA

After our healthy breakfast very early at 5:00 a.m., we will hike to the Rainbow Mountain, to enjoy a beautiful sunrise of the Valley, our guide will explain us about the formations of the Mountain of Colors, the components and minerals that make it so famous to the Rainbow Mountain.

After an hour of contemplating the beauty of the Rainbow Mountain, we will make the descent for 4 hours approximately until we arrive to Qesiuno, to have lunch, after a delicious lunch we will continue our 2 hours walk uphill until we arrive to the Ausangate Lake, here we will have our fourth day of camping and our dinner.

Day: 06 COMERCOCHA - PAMPACANCHA - QAMPA - PACCHANTA.

After a hot drink to compensate the cold of the morning, we will have a good breakfast, then we will start our one hour hike through a varied trail through the Pampacancha Valley (4300 m / 14107 ft), where we will be able to photograph llamas and alpacas grazing.

At the end of the valley we will begin the ascent to reach the highest point of our journey through the Ausangate the Qampa Pass (5400m / 17716 ft), a journey of 2 hours, from here we will observe a beautiful landscape surrounded by mountains, valleys and beautiful lagoons, and with a lot of luck we can appreciate the flight of condors, After admiring the scenery, we will start the descent through the Pacchanta valley for 3 hours to reach our last camp located in the village of Pacchanta, here we can enjoy a perfect bath to recompose the body after a long journey through the Ausangate Trek 7 days.

Day: 07 PACCHANTA - TINQUI - CUSCO.

After enjoying a quiet night in the hot springs of Pacchanta, we will have our last breakfast and pick up our camp to start the last hike to Tinqui. We will hike for 4 hours to Tinqui (3800 m / 11811 ft), on the way we will see the customs and traditions of the place, we will see people working the land, when we arrive to Tinqui we will have our last lunch, and then continue our return trip to Cusco, arrival at approximately 5:00 pm.
